Reading Community Players announces 2024 season [Spotlight]

Dec. 31—Reading Community Players has announced its 2024 season, starting with "12 Angry Jurors," an adaptation of "12 Angry Men," written by Reginald Rose, scheduled to be performed March 22-24 at the WCR Center for the Arts, 140 N. Fifth St., Reading.

Kirstin Truccano will be directing the show. Auditions are scheduled for Jan. 7 and 8 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church, 1076 Memorial Highway, Oley. More information about these auditions is available at www.readingcommplayers.com.

The second show of the season, "Rocky Roads Ain't Always Sweet," is a four-act play written and directed by Santo Marabella. Auditions will be held on Jan. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education, 3000 Penn Ave., West Lawn. Information on the auditions can be found on RCP's website. "Rocky Roads" will be performed at May 16-19 at Yocum Institute.

The remainder of RCP's 2024 season will include the children's show "Disney's Moana, Jr.," directed by Debbi Silas, on June 28-29 at the Miller Center for the Arts; "Agatha Christie, A Murder Is Announced", directed by Randy Miller, Oct 18-20 at the WCR Center for the Arts; and the children's show "I Hate Christmas," directed by Silas, Dec. 6-8 at the YMCA of Reading.

More information about tickets or future auditions dates can be viewed on RCP's website, www.readingcommplayers.com, or on its Facebook page as soon as they are available. Any special events or fundraisers for the year will also be announced on the webpage and through social media.

RCP's officers for 2024 will be Denise Darrah, president; Tara Lutz, vice president; Sandi Trait, secretary; and Nicole Genest, treasurer. An organizational meeting is scheduled for Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Stonersville Social Club, 5580 Boyertown Pike, Exeter Township. All are welcome.
