May 1:

Maifest German-language worship service, St. John's German Lutheran Church, 521 Walnut St., Reading, 11 a.m. It will feature music by the Reading Liederkranz Chorus under the direction of Mark Herr. The sermon will be provided by the Rev. Sonja Ware. This service will be broadcast live on Radio WEEU-830 AM. Free off-street parking is available at Henninger Funeral Home, 229 N. Fifth St. "Der Mai ist gekommen!" (Please be prepared to wear a mask depending on COVID numbers.)

Leesport Area Historical Society Museum open house, 128 Main St., Leesport, 1-4 p.m. Quilting and history enthusiast Judy Bauer will answer questions about her 200-year-old handmade signature quilt from the Maidencreek Quaker Meeting House. Some signatures include family names such as Parvin, Lee and Lightfoot. Visit the 1858 schoolhouse, which served the community until 1961, including a circa 1940s/50s classroom, and area/regional artifacts, including a 1750s Quaker marriage certificate.

Dave Reinwald and the Rocky Mountain Band, Kissinger's Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, 4 p.m., a concert of John Denver music and oldies. Donations benefit Take Heart Counseling & Equine Assisted Therapy. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
