Reading track and field finishes with strong results at the Concord Invitational

CONCORD — The Reading Ranges traveled to the Coach King Memorial Invitational, hosted by Concord High School. The Rangers took on a myriad number of schools including Pittsford and Homer. It was a strong day for both Ranger track teams as they would earn top three team finishes.

The Ranger girls track and field team took home third place with a final score of 93.5. They would finish one-point shy of the runner-up Homer Trojans. Pittsford took the trophy for the girls track and field competition with a final score of 135. Concord took first place in the boys track and field competition. Reading would finish as runner-ups with a final score of 103.83, beating out Lakewood who finished only two points behind the Rangers.

The boys track and field team had several athletes post top three finishes in their respective events. Sophomore Brady Kling took third place in the 200-meter dash and earned a new PR time. Junior Tyler Bays took second place in the 800-meter sprint and the 1600-meter run. Sophomore Tayshawn Bester won both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles and earned a PR time in the 100-meter hurdles.

Reading's 4x200-meter team led by Duke Green, Brady Kling, Jacob Hamilton and Tayshawn Bester won their event. Reading's 4x400-meter relay team led by Brady Kling, Jacob Hamilton, Jesse Cabrera and Tyler Bays won their event. The 4x800-meter relay team led by Jesse Cabrera, Jeremiah Bedford, Colton Wiler and Tyler Bays took second place. Sophomore Austin Neely took third in discus with a new PR. Maverick Messenger took second in the pole vault competition. Duke Green took second in the long jump competition.

For the girls team, Junior Alexis Engel took third in the 800-meter sprint with a new PR time. Junior Aubrey Pitts took third in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles. Pitts earned new SR and PR times in each event. The 4x100-meter relay team of Taylor Engel, Elizabeth Hamilton, Mallory Wheeler and Isabella Johnson took second place. The 4x200-meter relay team led by Isabella Johnson, Taylor Engel, Elizabeth Hamilton and Mallory Wheeler won their event. The 4x400-meter relay team of Elizabeth Hamilton, Taylor Engel, Mallory Wheeler and Alexis Engel won their event. The 4x800-meter relay team of Sophia Falter, Veronica Falater, Kaylee Pope and Alexis Engel took third place.

Aubrey Pitts took first in the shot put competition. Sophomore Sydnee Mauk earned a new PR in the discus event and took second place. Senior Mallory Wheeler took second place in the high jump competition. Here are the full results for the Rangers at the Concord Invitational.
