Feb. 12—ReadingFilmFEST alumni Erik Bloomquist's horror film "She Came From the Woods," starring Cara Buono ("Stranger Things") and William Sadler ("The Shawshank Redemption"), is playing at R/C Reading Movies 11 & IMAX in downtown Reading.

Set in 1987, the film is about a group of counselors who accidentally unleash a decades-old evil on the last night of summer camp.

The ReadingFilm Office, which oversees the ReadingFilmFEST, voiced excitement about Bloomquist's return to Reading. According to Cammie Harris, executive director: "Erik has been a part of the ReadingFilm community for close to five years and we are excited to welcome this riveting, must-see film."

Chris Woodward, ReadingFilmFEST 's juror manager, said, "We very much anticipate viewing 'She Came From the Woods,' as Erik's storytelling craft continues to be masterful."

Bloomquist has participated as a filmmaker, guest speaker and student mentor with the ReadingFilmFEST. His film "Long Lost" (2018) won him Best Narrative Feature, 2019's "Intermedium" was awarded Best Actress in a Short (Emily Keefe), and 2020's "Ten Minutes to Midnight" won him Best Narrative Feature.

Bloomquist is a two-time New England Emmy Award winner (Outstanding Director and Outstanding Writer), eight-time nominee and Top 200 Director on HBO's Project Greenlight. His debut feature, "Long Lost," played a limited theatrical run in early 2019 and is now available on VOD.

His nationally syndicated television series, "The Cobblestone Corridor," for which he served as creator, showrunner, writer, director and lead actor, won three New England Emmy Awards and received nine nominations. His critically acclaimed short films have played internationally on television (Crypt TV, Shorts HD), at festivals and on demand.
