The time to swing and bebop in Derby City is here. The Louisville Jazz Festival is coming to town Aug. 19-20 at Iroquois Amphitheater.

Jazz, a musical genre that originated in New Orleans during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is easily recognized for its signature vocals, blue notes and improvisation. This is the third time that the city of Louisville will host the festival, which features Damien Escobar, Norman Brown, Peter White, Euge Groove, Gerald Albright, and more.

"This show is one of the biggest jazz festivals on this side of the country," Gerald Belle, promoter of the festival, told the Courier Journal. "We have all the stellar artists that are out, performing in today's market. And so, to bring them all together in one city for a two-day event such as this is unbelievable."
