Get ready to get dirty: Rugged Maniac mud obstacle races coming to New Jersey
Want to spend an afternoon with your friends testing your limits running through 25-plus obstacles consisting of unlimited mud, giant inflatables, epic fire jumps and rope climbs?
Rugged Maniac, sponsored by Tipico Sportsbook, is all that and more – it's a day-long festival with mud races, rockin’ music, interactive games and refreshment options ("tasty food and beer to keep you fueled all day," the organizers say).

Here's what to know about Rugged Maniac
When: Saturday, July 16
Where: Old Bridge Township Raceway Park (230 Pension Road, Englishtown, N.J.)

What is it?: Rugged Maniac is a challenging 3.1-mile mud-heavy course, equipped with more than 25 obstacles for participants to overcome. Obstacles include water slides, a lot of mud, rope climbs, fire jumps and more.
What else is it?: It's an all-day event – the mud obstacle races and a festival with music and food.
How do I sign up?: Registration can be found at ruggedmaniac.com. Click on the locations tab on the top of the screen, scroll down and click on where it says "New Jersey" for more information. Or go straight to this link. You must be at least 12 years old on the day of the event to participate.
How does it work?: On race day, the first wave of participants will be sent out on the course at 9 a.m., and the last wave will be sent at 2:30 p.m. Waves occur every 15 minutes, and 200 people are sent out at a time.

How long does it take to complete the course?: Your finish time will depend on your athletic ability. Most people finish within 45 to 75 minutes. Top times are generally in the low 20s.
Cost: Registration is $74 through June 19; $84 through July 3; $94 until July 15; and $100 after that. A parking pass is $10, or parking will cost $15 the day of.
