Ready to get hitched? Leon County Clerk offers free Valentine's Day special

Are you or someone you know ready to tie the knot?

Say “I Do” with the Leon County Clerk of the Court. The Leon County Clerk’s office is partnering with Goodwood Museum & Gardens to host the First Annual Valentine’s Day group wedding ceremony at 2 p.m. Feb. 14. The ceremony will be officiated by Clerk Marshall Knight and take place outside on the front lawn of the Main House.

“We all know that Valentine’s Day is a special time for couples,” Knight said. Now more than ever, celebrating love and commitment is needed.

To participate, couples must register online at www.leonclerk.com. Registration is first come, first serve limited to 20 couples and will be open through Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023.

In order to comply with state mandated time requirements and to be eligible to register and participate in this event, all couples must have a marriage license issued between Dec. 19, 2022, and Feb. 3, 2023. Couples can apply for a marriage license by visiting either of the two Clerk’s office locations – Leon County Courthouse or the NE Branch – during our hours of operation, Monday- Friday 8 a.m- 4:30 p.m.

Couples must both be present to apply for their license, and both must have a valid form of photo ID. To expedite your visit, fill out the marriage online application on our website at leonclerk/marriage.com. The Clerk is waiving the $30 ceremony fee; however, standard marriage license fees do apply.

The Goodwood Museum & Gardens is donating their venue for the occasion. Nestled among live oak trees in the heart of Tallahassee, Goodwood creates an intimate atmosphere while still being near the center of the city.

Four additional guests per party are permitted. Light refreshments will be available for newlyweds and their guests after the ceremony. Each couple will receive a photo and special marriage certificate commemorating the day.

For those looking for a more intimate and private setting, individual wedding ceremonies can be performed at the courthouse and at the NE Branch location on Valentine's Day or by appointment.
