‘We Ready’ rapper Archie Eversole shot to death by brother in Georgia, cops say

Archie Eversole, an Atlanta rapper best known for his sports anthem “We Ready,” has died after being shot by his brother, according to police in DeKalb County, Georgia.

Officers responded to a shooting at a Chevron station on March 25 and took the victim, later identified as Eversole, to a local hospital, according to a statement from police.

Eversole died from his injuries on April 3, police say. He was 37 years old.

Officers arrested Eversole’s brother, Alexander Kraus, 41, on a murder charge, according to police. He is being held in the DeKalb County Jail, officials say.

Archie Eversole is best-known for his 2002 single “We Ready” with Bubba Sparxxx. It became a popular sports anthem, sung by fans in stadiums around the country and featured in multiple promotional videos by the National Football League.

Fans reacted to Eversole’s death on social media.

Sports writer Brandon Caldwell tweeted a video of Eversole on Thursday, April 14.

“rip archie eversole, an energetic rapper who crafted a song and anthem which will outlive and still be wholly southern and atlanta,” he wrote.

The soccer club Atlanta United FC, for whom “We Ready” became an iconic chant, tweeted a statement in response to Eversole’s death.

“We are heartbroken to hear of the tragic passing of Archie Eversole,” the club wrote. “A staple in the Atlanta hip-hop scene, Archi adopted Atlanta United before our first season and continued to be one of our club’s most fervent supporters. In addition to his decorated musical career, his voice will long live in our supporters’ minds as ‘We Ready’ billows through the speakers for kick-off at Atlanta United matches. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.”
