'We are ready,' Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort set to reopen months after rebuilding from Caldor Fire

It's a big weekend for a Tahoe ski resort with fresh snow and a fresh start. "We didn’t know if we were able to get here but now that game day is here, we are ready to go," said Shelby Duncan with Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. Saturday will mark the opening day for the resort that suffered huge losses during the August 2021 Caldor Fire. The fire burned 1,600 of its 2,000 acres and destroyed a machine shop with snow and ski equipment and heavy machinery. It also killed more than 14,000 trees, which had to be removed from the mountain.
