Celebrate our nation’s founding with the Independence Day Celebration on July 3 and 4 in Waukee. Thousands of community members don their red, white and blue to join the festivities in Waukee for the annual parade, inflatables, live music, tournaments, fireworks and more!

“With only a few weeks to go, we encourage everyone to plan ahead for events that require pre-registration. We’d love to have more floats and parade entries, so please get creative and join us!” said Danae Edwards, Recreation Supervisor, Waukee Parks & Recreation.

July 3 will be an all-American evening where attendees can support local veterans with delicious food by the Waukee chapter of the American Legion, enjoy yard games, participate in a pie-eating contest and watch “Top Gun: Maverick” on the huge outdoor screen.

July 4 will offer a full day of family-friendly fun, from a pancake breakfast to parade to inflatables. Don’t miss the talented Des Moines Skydivers and their festive display over Centennial Park and wrap up the day oohing and ahhing over an impressive fireworks display.

Three ways to get ready for this beloved annual celebration:

  • Join the Independence Day Parade (free). Community organizations and businesses are invited to be a part of the parade at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4. There is no cost to participate, but advance registration is required. Find more details and submit your parade entry by 10 p.m. on June 29 at Waukee.org/July.

  • Get your kids’ all-you-can-jump armband for inflatables village ($10 each). The inflatables village will have options for a range of ages. Attendees can pre-purchase your armband at Waukee.org/Registration through June 30. Armbands are valid for all the inflatables on July 4.

  • Register for Adult Sand Volleyball or Bags Tournaments. Pre-register your team for the Coed Sand Volleyball Tournament at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 3 or for the Bags Tournament at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. Both tournaments will be held at Centennial Park and registration closes at noon on Friday, June 30.
