REAL ESTATE PEOPLE: Venice Area Board of Realtors awards scholarships

A recent Venice Area Board of Realtors meeting featured its 2023 Scholarship recipients, who each received a check for $1,500.

Students honored were Alexandra McDowell, Kasey-Huong Nguyen, Christian Mendez, Riley Highfield, Leah J. Bartlett, Aubrey Hunter, Madelyn Crouch, Larry Shannon, Jessica Alvarenga Zelaya, Hayley Meyer, Kiersten Rau, Kayla Anantarci, Kylie Bishop, Shannon Detert, Natalie Kisgen, Mallory Loge and Jewel Medina. 

In addition to this year’s donations of $25,500, the board has donated over $450,000 since the Scholarship Program began in the early 1990s. The Scholarship Committee raises funds throughout the year with proceeds from its annual Scholarship Golf Tournament and Chili Cook-Off.

The Venice Area Board of Realtors’ YPN (Young Professionals Network) Committee also presented a check for $13,000 to The Twig, a local nonprofit that provides clothing to foster children.

Luxury real estate agent Evan Danzig has expanded his business from New York City to Florida’s west coast by partnering with Michael Saunders & Company, in Sarasota.

Danzig has successfully completed over $500 million in residential real estate transactions ranging anywhere from one-bedroom condominiums to luxury penthouses and townhomes.

Danzig is a Sarasota native with familial roots dating back several generations.

“My grandfather came to Sarasota in 1950 and founded Kane’s of Sarasota (later Kalin’s Furniture).  However, he was also heavily involved in and extremely passionate about commercial real estate for the last 70 years. I look forward to continuing his legacy in Sarasota.”

Weichert, Realtors-Hallmark Properties, at 205 N. Orange Ave., Suite 101, Sarasota, has recently added the following individuals to its team: Shirley Taylor, Belle McHugh, Kristin Capp and Kevin Machi.

The Realtor Association of Sarasota & Manatee recently presented the Florida Realtors Honor Society award to Florida Suncoast Real Estate Realtors Brooke Mailloux, first year, and Debi Reynolds, third year.

Barry and Sherry Grooms, owners of Florida Suncoast Real Estate Inc., also were recognized, Barry is a 14-year recipient and Sherry is a 16-year recipient of this prestigious award.  All recipients will be presented a custom designed lapel pin symbolizing homes for people, business, and industry.

The Honor Society was established 32 years ago by Florida Realtors to recognize members of local boards and associations who are active in the state association.

The Honor Society also salutes members for participation at the local and national levels of the REALTOR organization; for activity in NAR’s institutes, societies and councils; for designations earned; for educational activities; and for political involvement.
