TAUNTON — The boom in real estate prices has also carved out big opportunities for investment properties, or "house flipping." The recent fate of a particular Taunton home shows why, both in terms of return on investment and a beautiful, modernized home for the new owners.

A five-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,000-square-foot home on Morton Avenue in Taunton sold for $505,000 on Feb. 8, according to real estate and mortgage data company The Warren Group.

The same property sold for $165,000 in March 2021. Meaning in 11 months, the home re-sold for more than triple the original price, and about a 206% increase.

But a peek inside the "brand new" home shows why.

"All the major updates have been done to make this home brand new," reads the home's description on Zillow.com, from listing agent Thumbring Realty. "Updates include new roof, electrical, plumbing, siding, driveway, spray foam insulation, and HVAC system. This home is ready for its new owners!"

The home now features spacious bedrooms, a mud room, a first floor master bedroom, a master closet with a barn door, a tiled master bathroom, a custom-built island in the kitchen, quartz countertops and a second floor with four bedrooms.

The seller is listed as Higher Up Decors LLC, based in Taunton.

The top-selling home in Greater Taunton for Jan. 31 through Feb. 11 was in Dighton, where a 3,100-square-foot custom-designed Cape on Williams Street sold for $682,000.
