'The Real Housewives of Dubai' Premiere: Caroline Brooks And Chanel Ayan's Instantly Iconic Argument Shows The Black Women Are Bringing It

The Real Housewives of Dubai is here and it quickly became the most-talked-about franchise on Bravo following its premiere episode. The opulence displayed on the show, along with the expected drama that Housewives brings, is a perfect combination.

But the Black cast members are getting the most reactions and we are here for it!

Meet the cast

Aside from Potomac and Atlanta, Dubai has the most colorful or diverse cast of the franchise and they all bring something different. 

Model and businesswoman Chanel Ayan has worked for top fashion houses like Chanel, Tiffany, Cartier, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana. Additionally, she has her own makeup brand called AYAN that she created with makeup artist Toni Malt, owns a talent agency, and is a wife and mother of one. 

Caroline Brooks is an Afro-Latina from the U.S. who relocated to Dubai with her now ex-husband. While they were married, she worked as the marketing manager for her husband’s companies. After their split, she earned her real estate license and eventually worked her way up to become the executive director of a Dubai brokerage firm. She also is a mother. 

Lesa Milan is a fashion designer and entrepreneur from Jamaica. The former Miss Jamaica Universe contestant was also a cast member of the BET reality series College Hill. Milan is the founder and chief designer of luxury maternity fashion brand Mina Roe, which has been worn by celebrities like Beyoncé. She lives in Dubai with her husband and three sons.

Also on the show are Nina Ali,  Caroline Stanbury and Sara Al Madani. 

Big personalities and an argument were highlights of the premiere

Brooks and Ayan got into it after the former made it a point to discuss how the latter was on the invite list for Stanbury’s engagement party. It all happened at a dinner that was held by Ali for the women.

Stanbury didn’t invite Ayan, saying she was just an “acquaintance.” But it wasn’t Stanbury, but Brooks that received Ayan’s wrath because she joked about Stanbury only inviting people who were “important” to her.

A shadest ensued as they went back and forth.

All in all, viewers were here for Brooks, Ayan and Lesa.

Black Twitter reacts to all of the #BlackGirlMagic on the show

Bravo fans were ecstatic to see an international franchise added to the roster. But much of the social media chatter was placed on the Black cast members. 

The level of wealth and access displayed on this show is unprecedented, even for a Housewives franchise. Some Twitter users even commented that the Dubai cast makes Beverly Hills look broke. It makes it even better that Black women are at the center of it all.

Seeing Black women this beautiful and who’ve obtained this level of success was also aspirational for viewers.
