Reba McEntire Didn't Host 'CMA Country Christmas' This Year and Everyone's Wondering Why

From Country Living

  • Trisha Yearwood hosted this years' CMA Country Christmas special.

  • Though the "She's in Love With the Boy" singer did amazing, many were wondering why Reba McEntire wasn't there.

The CMA Country Christmas special is one of the most magical ways to get in the spirit of the holiday. It puts many of the genre’s most beloved singers front-and-center to belt out your favorite carols, and we love watching it while we hang the stockings or decorate the tree.

This year’s program was hosted by Trisha Yearwood, whose husband, Garth Brooks, made quite a few headlines during the 2019 CMA Awards. Though Trisha made a fantastic emcee, a lot of fans were still asking the same question: Where was Reba McEntire?

The “Fancy” singer has headed up the night since 2017, so viewers have gotten used to seeing Reba during the annual festivities. So you can imagine why they’d be upset about a Reba-less evening.

A few also noted that they wished Jennifer Nettles, who was the host of the special for seven years before Reba, would have attended as well.

There’s likely a simple solution for Reba’s absence: She stepped up and hosted the CMA Awards alongside Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton in November, so it’s a lot to ask for her to take on both duties. Plus, she gave an insane performance at the CMAs and we’re sure the multiple outfit changes required a lot of practice.

According to her Twitter, she’s also gearing up for a Vegas show with her friends Brooks and Dunn, as well as more concerts in 2020. So we get why she may have had to sit this one out!
