Rebecca Grossman pleads not guilty to murder charges during 2nd arraignment
Rebecca Grossman, the Hidden Hills resident charged with the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed two Westlake Village brothers in September 2020, entered a not guilty plea Friday during a second arraignment in the case.
Grossman, 58, appeared in court at the Van Nuys Municipal Courthouse with one of her attorneys, John Hobson. She pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony murder, two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter and one count of hit-and-run.
The second arraignment and plea were spurred by the results of a preliminary hearing in the case earlier this year, when Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Shellie Samuels ruled Grossman would stand trial for the charges.
A different Los Angeles judge, Joseph Brandolino, presided over the second arraignment on Friday. Nancy Iskander, the mother of the victims, was in the courtroom during the hearing.
The charges stem from a crash the evening of Sept. 29, 2020 along Triunfo Canyon Road at Saddle Mountain Drive. Brothers Mark Iskander, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 8, were crossing Triunfo Canyon Road in a marked crosswalk with their mother and brother when they were allegedly hit by Grossman's car. Both were pronounced dead that night.
Grossman is the wife of plastic surgeon Dr. Peter Grossman and the daughter-in-law of Dr. A. Richard Grossman, who founded the Grossman Burn Centers. She is the co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation and the former publisher of Westlake Magazine.
The next court date, a pretrial hearing, was scheduled for Aug. 1, with another hearing discussed for early September.
