Rebecca's Barber 'n' Beauty shop opens downtown at 202 N. Memorial Drive
LANCASTER − Owning one business is not enough for Rebecca Slater. The co-owner of Buddy Joe's Barber & Beauty Shop recently opened Rebecca's Barber 'n' Beauty at 202 N. Memorial Drive.
"We're just trying to get it up and running and getting customers," she said. "Hopefully, we can bring more to Lancaster."
The new beauty/barber shop is located at 202 North Memorial Drive near the the Fairfield County Job and Family Services building. It will offer cuts, shaves with hot towels and beard trims on the barber side. The beauty end offers perms, eyebrow waxing and cuts.
Buddy Joe's is located at 706 E. Sixth St. Slater said she's always wanted a bigger business on a busy street. She said she's not giving up her stake in that business, though.
"The shop over there is just a two-chair shop," Slater said. "But there's nine stations here (new shop) at this shop. So, I'm looking for barbers and beauticians."
While Buddy Joe's has only two chairs, she said that business does well. Slater works there two days a week and that some of her regular clients have followed her to the new shop.
She got her start in the beauty business after completing a cosmetology program at Fairfield Career Center for her last two years of high school. Slater said she always wanted to work on hair.
Rebecca's Barber 'n' Beauty is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Both walk-ins and clients with appointments are welcome.
