Recall Alert: Two carbon monoxide detectors sold by Amazon are defective says Safety Commission

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is asking the public to stop using two brands of faulty carbon monoxide detectors.

GLBSUNION and CUZMAK digital display carbon monoxide detectors have been known to not alert consumers to the presence of hazardous carbon monoxide.

More than 200 people die in the United States every year from accidental, non-fire-related carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the CPSC.

“If a CO detector that does not alert to the presence of an elevated level of carbon monoxide is installed in a home, and carbon monoxide enters the home, the consumer will not be warned of this harmful gas, making injury or death very likely,” says the CPSC.

The faulty CO detectors are 4 by 1.5 by 4 inches, made of white plastic and have a digital display. Both items were sold on Amazon for between $16 and $40.

The CPSC adds that CO detectors should be on each level of a NY home and outside separate sleeping areas.
