Recall on ice issued at Fond du Lac County gas station

TAYCHEEDAH, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac County say a recall has been issued for 20-pound bags of ice sold at a local gas station.

According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Health Department, the recall is on 20-pound bags of ice sold at the Citgo Ledgeview Express in Taycheedah prior to April 19.

Officials say the recall is due to a possible contamination of E. coli, a bacteria that can cause people diarrhea and vomiting. They add that this is only on the 20-pound bags as the 10-pound bags are not a part of the recall.

The recall follows a routine sampling conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s Bureau of Meat and Poultry Businesses found a positive detection of coliform and E. coli on the gas station’s ice machine.

At this time, no illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall. Consumers are being urged to not consume any of the ice bought prior to the previously mentioned date.

Anyone who has consumed the product is asked to monitor themselves for any symptoms of a foodborne illness and should also contact their doctor.
