The Chai Box recalled months of Chai Concentrate mixes after learning of “potential under-processing which may lead to Clostridium botulinum contamination,” The Chai Box said in its FDA-posted recall notice.
Clostridium botulinum is the bacteria that can lead to botulism, “a rare but serious illness caused by a toxin that attacks the body’s nerves and causes difficulty breathing, muscle paralysis, and even death,” as described by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture discovered the potential problem.
This recall covers 16-ounce and 64-ounce bottles of The Chai Box’s Chai Concentrate and Unsweetened Chai Concentrate with best by dates from 9/22/2022 to 3/16/2023.
If you have any of these, return them to the store of purchase for a full refund or at least throw them out.
If you have questions, call The Chai Box at 844-242-4269, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time or email email@example.com.
