CHILLICOTHE − A recent Ross County Christian Academy graduate received a scholarship from the Rho Chi Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. This money will go to help him with his educational career.

Ashton Beverly was given a $500 scholarship by the fraternity, which is made up of over 150,000 college-educated men. The fraternity is built on the idea of promoting brotherhood, scholarship and service. After seeing all the things Beverly does for his school and community the organization decided that he exhibits all of these qualities.

Local reverend Dr. J. Troy Gray, who is a member of the fraternity was also the keynote speaker of the RCCA graduation. During this time he spoke to graduating students and felt the Lord leading to him to help them. To do this the Zion Baptist Church, through the Dr Hm Wingo Scholarship Fund, decided to give all of the graduating seniors at the school who were continuing their education a $500 scholarship. This resulted in eight graduates receiving financial help.

"That is a blessing to be able to sew into the lives of kids who are going to be our future," said Gray. "It was an honor to get to do that."
