With the Iowa Caucuses tonight, what do the latest polls say about the Republican race for president?

The Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa Poll is considered the gold standard of polling and has been polling on the Iowa Caucuses for more than 40 years.

Donald Trump holds commanding lead

Donald Trump is still the man to beat, holding a 28 point lead, the new poll finds.

The Jan. 7-12 Iowa Poll showed 48% of likely Republican caucusgoers picked Trump as their first choice for president, down from 51% in a December Iowa Poll.

Nikki Haley slips by Ron DeSantis for second place

In the January Iowa Poll, the fourth of the caucuses, Haley was the first choice of 20% of likely Republican caucusgoers, with a 4 percentage-point lead over DeSantis.

More Nikki Haley supporters would vote for Biden over Trump in November

Likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa who support former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley are more skeptical than other caucusgoers that Donald Trump, beset by legal challenges, would be able to win the general election — and they’re more likely to vote for President Joe Biden instead of Trump in November.

Most Republican caucusgoers indifferent to possible Trump conviction

Sixty-one percent say a potential conviction “does not matter” in determining their general election support for Trump. Nineteen percent say a conviction would make them more likely to support Trump, and 18% say it would make them less likely.

Most likely Republican caucusgoers aren’t wild about MAGA

While Trump has built a commanding lead with likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa, less than half identify with his MAGA brand.
