Recently released former Raiders DE Arden Key visiting 49ers

Last Thursday, exactly two weeks before the 2021 NFL draft, the Raiders did some housecleaning. They were in need of some cap space and they looked to a couple of defensive linemen from their 2018 class who was entering the final year of their rookie deals.

They waived former third-round pick Arden Key and defensive tackle Maurice Hurst. Both cleared waivers and are have been free to sign with any team. The first of the two reportedly make a free-agent visit is Key, who is visiting the 49ers today, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Key has just three sacks in his three seasons with the Raiders along with 26 quarterback hits. He’s known for looking unblockable in practice and then being unable to find the quarterback in games.

No doubt he has great length, speed, and bend around the edge. If the 49ers coaches like what they see and he could be given another shot to put it together and revive his career in San Francisco.
