Recognizing our veterans: Area events and remembrances for Veterans Day Saturday
WORCESTER — Communities throughout Central Massachusetts will be recognizing veterans in the coming days. Veterans Day is Saturday. Below is a list of area events and remembrances:
Worcester
8:30 to 11 a.m.: Pancake Breakfast, Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St.
11 a.m.: Veterans Day Parade will proceed from the corner of North and Grove by the Oak Barrel Tavern and end at Lincoln Square
Noon: Wreath-laying ceremony, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Green Hill Park
1 p.m.: Wreath-laying ceremony, Korean War Memorial, 52 Foster St.
Shrewsbury
11 a.m.: Wreath laying at the World War I Memorial, 1 Maple Ave. Will include music from Paton School third-grade students. There will be a reception for veterans afterwards at the Shrewsbury Public Library
Milford
10 a.m.: Will be held Friday - Parade along Veterans Memorial Drive, going up Main Street, stopping at the Doughboy Monument at Calzone Park and continuing to Draper War Memorial.
If poor weather and parade is canceled, a ceremony will be held at the Italian American War Veterans of the U.S. Post #40 Hall at 4 Hayward Field at 10 a.m.
Westborough
8:30 a.m.: Wreath laying at Minuteman Park, St. Luke's Cemetery, Pine Grove Cemetery
10:30 a.m.: Full ceremony in front of Forbes Memorial Building
Webster
9:45 a.m.: World War II ceremony, Memorial Monument, Webster Lake entryway off Thompson Road.
Dudley
11 a.m.: Veterans Day Parade, Dudley Municipal Complex, 71 W. Main St.
Barre
11:30 a.m.: Quabbin ROTC ceremony, The Barre Common. 26 Grove St. Barre
Fitchburg
11 a.m.: Fitchburg Armory/Senior Center Ceremony, O'Neill Hall, 14 Wallace Ave.
