With record numbers dying from ODs, here's help to stay alive if you do drugs
Whether it's treatment or clean syringes, there is help available for people living in addiction.
Here are some resources to stay safe while living in addiction — and to get treatment if you want.
Macomb County
CARE of Southeastern Michigan: Located in Macomb County, CARE offers addiction treatment, provides Narcan and hosts Medication Assisted Recovery Anonymous meetings. Oakland County
The Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities: Serving Oakland County, the alliance offers free virtual and drive-up — and a free Narcan kit upon completion of the program. It also hosts support group meetings. Info: achcmi.org/training/narcan-training-save-a-life

Wayne County
Community Care Services: Located Downriver, CCS offers counseling and drug treatment, including medication-assisted treatment. For info: comcareserv.org or 313-389-7500
Hegira Health: Located in western Wayne County, Hegira provides a drug treatment, including medication-assisted treatment. Info: hegirahealth.org.
The Detroit Recovery Project provides addiction treatment and counseling as well as syringe services and Narcan. Info: recovery4detroit.com or 313-365-3100.
Statewide
Families Against Narcotics: With chapters scattered throughout the state — including Wayne, Macomb and Washtenaw counties — FAN offers support groups, Narcan training (and a free kit upon completion of the training) and help getting into recovery for those who choose that option. In Macomb County, FAN offers a program called Harm:Less, which connects drug users with resources to help keep them safe. That includes Narcan, fentanyl test strips and clean syringes.
