Record-Setting Rainfall Floods St Louis Streets

Record-breaking rainfall in St Louis, Missouri, caused “widespread flash flooding” on Tuesday, July 26, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The St Louis NWS office reported more than nine inches of rainfall in 24 hours, breaking the previous record set in 1915.

The Missouri Department of Transportation cautioned drivers to avoid travel, saying "turn around, don’t drown.” At least one person died as a result of the flooding, local media reported.
