Records identify man arrested in deadly Old Town stabbing

Arrest records have identified the 38-year-old Wichita man arrested in a fatal Old Town stabbing on Monday.

Jason Dwayne Todd was arrested Monday at his home in west Wichita on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to records released Tuesday morning. Police were called to the stabbing around 1:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of East First Street and found 25-year-old Trebeon Golston of Wichita “not breathing with multiple stab wounds to his upper body,” Wichita police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said in a news release.

Officers performed CPR, Rebolledo said, before Golston was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In Monday’s news release, Rebolledo said the incident was not random.

Todd has nine previous adult convictions in Sedgwick County, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records. They span from 2004 to 2015 and include seven drug convictions. The two others are criminal possession of a gun by a felon in 2004, when he was 19, and fleeing/attempting to elude in officer in 2015.
