- Recreational marijuana has taken a critical step toward legalization in New Jersey today. Senators approved a bill dictating the penalties of underage marijuana and alcohol use. The so-called clean up bill is seen as the last step before Governor Murphy will sign the bill legalizing marijuana into law. The clean-up bill treats marijuana and alcohol use or possession by anyone under 21 years old as the same offense.
