Liam McNeeley, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound senior small forward from Montverde (Florida) Academy, who made an official men’s basketball recruiting trip to Kansas last weekend, will visit Indiana Friday through Sunday and Texas on Sept. 22-24, JayhawkSlant.com has reported.

McNeeley, the No. 9-ranked player in the recruiting class of 2024 by Rivals.com and 247Sports.com (No. 13 by ESPN.com), has a final list of six schools: KU, Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama and Michigan.

Earlier in the recruiting process the Richardson, Texas, native also considered Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa and others.

McNeeley told JayhawkSlant.com he enjoyed his visit to KU, especially spending time with seniors Hunter Dickinson, Nick Timberlake and Michael Jankovich.

“It went great. I had a great time and felt very welcomed,” McNeeley told JayhawkSlant.com.

He posted pictures of himself in a Jayhawk jersey on social media site X (formerly known as Twitter) with the message: “Call me from Kansas??? #RockChalk.”

Then on Tuesday, he had a post on X concerning his upcoming visit to Indiana.

“Next stop: Bloomington … Official visit week,” McNeeley’s post read.

He told thegrindhoops.com he plans to “commit (to a school) before the high school season starts. I want to improve on my consistency in all ways of the game. I want to have more complete games this season.”

Queen to join McNeeley on Indiana trip

McNeeley was joined on his KU visit by Montverde teammate Derik Queen, a 6-10, 245-pound senior forward originally from Baltimore, who also will visit Indiana this upcoming weekend. It’ll be the second time McNeeley and Queen will have visited Indiana. Queen is ranked No. 7 in the class of 2024 by 247Sports.com, No. 15 by ESPN.com and No. 21 by Rivals.com.

McNeeley averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game for Montverde last season. Queen averaged 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Playing for the Florida Rebels on the Nike EYBL Circuit this summer, McNeeley averaged 16.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game across 17 games. He shot 37% from 3 (30 of 81).

Queen is considering KU, Indiana, Houston, Georgetown and Maryland.

“While most of the talk in the summer was about the Terps and Hoosiers, Kelvin Sampson and his staff (at Houston) are right there in the thick of it (for Queen),” wrote Eric Bossi of 247sports.com. “But now, we’ve got to include Kansas in all of this. While it seems that the Jayhawks would be a long shot after already landing five-star big man Flory Bidunga, Bill Self and has staff have been planning all along to try and land two bigs and you never want to count a guy like Self out.”

Bethea’s dad says KU visit ‘great and honest’

Meanwhile, Jalil Bethea, a 6-4, 175-pound senior point guard from Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania, who visited KU Thursday through Saturday, will visit Miami (Florida) this weekend, according to 247Sports.com.

He visited Villanova on Aug. 25-27. He also is planning on visiting Syracuse on Sept. 15-17 and Alabama on Sept. 22-24.

Bethea, who is ranked No. 7 in the class of 2024 by ESPN.com, No. 17 by Rivals.com and No. 20 by 247Sports.com, has a final five of KU, Miami, Villanova, Syracuse and Alabama.

“The visit (to KU) was great and honest. Everything was great, period,” Jalil’s dad Steve told JayhawkSlant.com. Jalil Bethea posted a picture of himself in a KU jersey and shorts on his Instagram account.

“Jalil is an efficient 3-level scorer who plays well in a team or one-on-one concept,” Archbishop Wood coach John Mosco told Zagsblog.com. “He can score in bunches. He has been working on defense and being a complete player. One of his underlying strengths is his passing and getting everyone involved.”
