Recycling: Know your drop-off recycling options in Centre County

There are many drop-off recycling options available to Centre County residents. See the descriptions below to learn about each.

Plastic, Metal, Glass, Mixed Paper & Corrugated Cardboard

There are more than 125 drop-off locations for plastic, metal, glass, paper and corrugated cardboard in Centre County. These locations help to serve the population that does not have access to curbside recycling. There is a flyer on our website that lists the location of each drop-off container and the items that can be recycled at each location. Miscellaneous Plastics Recycling

We offer six drop-off locations where miscellaneous plastic containers can be recycled. Each of the locations houses either a large red container or gray cube containers marked “miscellaneous plastics.”

  • Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority, 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte

  • Patton Township, 2598 Green Tech Drive, State College

  • CVS, 127 S. Potter St., Bellefonte

  • Hamilton Square Shopping Center, 244 W. Hamilton Ave., State College

  • Snappy’s Convenience Store, 2892 Earlystown Road, Centre Hall

  • Rush Township Building, 150 Richard St., Philipsburg

Miscellaneous plastics accepted include: yogurt containers, margarine/butter tubs, cottage cheese and sour cream containers, dessert topping containers, strawberry/blueberry/raspberry containers, muffin/baked goods containers, lettuce/salad bar containers and plastic food storage containers, to name a few. Electronics Recycling

The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority has an electronics recycling drop-off located onsite at 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte. To recycle your electronics, follow the signs to the Scale at Gate 1 and tell the Scale Operator what items you have to recycle. The Scale Operator will direct you to the drop-off location. Electronics can be dropped off Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. This is a free service for Centre County residents. Scrap Metal & Appliances

Scrap metal and appliances are accepted at the CCRRA’s Transfer Station for recycling. These items may be dropped off free of charge Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Acceptable items include: air conditioners, dehumidifiers, washers and dryers, dish washers, furnaces, microwaves, electrical heaters, water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, stoves and ovens.

Vinyl Siding

The CCRRA accepts post-consumer vinyl siding at the Transfer Station at a rate of $20 per ton. To qualify for this rate, the acceptable load should include only the following: vinyl siding, corner posts and J-channel.

Wood, Rechargeable Battery & Tire Recycling

The CCRRA also has an option to drop-off untreated wood, rechargeable batteries and car/truck tires for recycling. As with the items listed above, all information regarding these recycling programs can be found at our website, www.centrecountyrecycles.org or by calling our office at 814-238-7005.
