Red Bank Restaurants Help Fight Food Insecurity

RED BANK, NJ — Two Red Bank restaurants are partnering with New Jersey nonprofit Soup Kitchen 411 for their annual "Taste of the State” event on May 24.

Red Bank's Nicholas Barrel & Roost and Le Malt Royale are two of the many New Jersey restaurants taking part in the event to raise $1 million to provide one million meals to soup kitchens throughout the Garden State.

Event attendees can enjoy a memorable fundraising event and taste food prepared by top chefs from New Jersey's finest restaurants from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Park Château Estate and Gardens, 678 Cranbury Rd., East Brunswick.

"The Community Food Bank of New Jersey has found that 13.5 percent of all residents and 19.7 percent of children in New Jersey are projected to be food insecure due to COVID-19, nearly double the respective pre-COVID-19 numbers. Additionally, 1 in 6 restaurants nationwide shut down because of the pandemic in 2020 alone with 36 percent of NJ restaurants closing their doors," Soup Kitchen 411 said.

Throughout the event, there will be performances by The Duprees and the New Brunswick Jazz Project, along with cigar rolling on the patio by DBL.

  • Red Horse by David Burke, Rumson

  • 1776 by David Burke, Morristown

  • Steakhouse 85, New Brunswick

  • Butcher’s Block, Long Branch

"We've teamed with chef David Burke to provide a night of exquisite tastings with the goal of raising money that will be used to purchase meals directly from restaurants that will then be donated to those in need—supporting the local economy and local community," Soup Kitchen 411 said.
