Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes opening Franklin location

A fourth location of Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes will likely open this summer in Franklin, marking the first Middle Tennessee location outside Nashville.

The Franklin Red Bicycle is owned by Joe Mancuso, who also owns The Nations location in Nashville. Mancuso expects the restaurant to open by mid June.

As the name suggests, Red Bicycle, which was started by David Trett in Chapel, N.C., is known for its locally roasted coffee and crepes. However, popular food includes sandwiches, breakfast tacos and burritos.

Mancuso said the Red Bicycle menu will be similar to The Nations location, but with more lunch and early dinner options.

“We are also looking into adding more salads, burgers and smoothies. We may even be bringing in a new ice cream component to the business,” Mancuso said.

He said the cafe will have a lighter, vibrant look.

“We have a lot of windows with the new spot and want a fresh clean vibrant design,” Mancuso said.

Trett opened the first Nashville-area Red Bicycle in Germantown in 2012 and then opened locations in The Nations and Woodbine. He sold those locations – Mancuso bought The Nations business two years ago – and Trett now owns only the Germantown site and Murfreesboro Red Bicycle Co. Roastery.

Mancuso said he and his wife were inspired to purchase The Nations property because the restaurant felt comfortable and evoked “endless possibilities” with that area’s growth.

Trett was also the originator in opening the Franklin site but passed the business on to Mancuso.

Mancuso said he’s excited about spreading the brand in Franklin, which he noted is “growing like crazy.”

There is definitely a demand for a good local coffee cafe,” Mancuso said.

The Franklin location, which will be located in a retail center just off Carothers Parkway, is nestled among hundreds of residences just east of Interstate 65.

The address for the future Franklin Red Bicycle is 5000 Longpoint Way, Ste. 580 in Franklin.
