Red Bull Soapbox Racers Flip Over in 'Nasty' Crash at London Event

Two soapbox racers were involved in what one spectator called a “nasty” crash when their vehicle flipped over at the Red Bull Soapbox Race in London on July 3.

Footage by Alan Griffiths shows the makeshift vehicle going up a ramp over some water at speed, before landing on the tarmac nose first and flipping over. “That’s a nasty one,” Griffiths wrote on Twitter.

Other video posted online showed the hard impact, with one of the vehicle’s riders signaling for help as his co-rider lay motionless on the ground.

Red Bull tweeted that “medics [were] looking after the team members from this race, they’re in good hands.”

The Sun said one rider was taken to hospital, but was said to be in “good spirits”. Credit: Alan Griffiths via Storyful
