From red carpet parties to garden tours, here's what's happening in Shreveport this weekend

It's the first weekend of June, and Shreveport has plenty of fun things to get into if you're needing to fill up your calendar. Whether you're looking to attend a red carpet event, a movie under the stars or want to look through beautiful gardens, there's plenty to do this weekend.

Friday, June 2

  • Twilight Talkies: The Little Mermaid at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery - Kick off the first Twilight Talkie of the season with a showing of the classic Disney film The Little Mermaid from 8 to 10 p.m. This free event is for all ages, and you'll need to bring some chairs and blankets to enjoy this movie under the start. At 6 p.m. there will be food trucks Just Good Food, Dripp Chicken, Dripp Donuts, Keto Cravings and Mama's Popcorn on site. The R.W. Norton Art Gallery is located at 4747 Creswell Ave. in Shreveport.

  • Second Rodeo Eve Pop Punk Pre-Party at The Seventh Tap - The brewery is teaming up with Backseat Heroes for a night that's a little country and a little emo. The taproom opens at noon, and Backseat Heroes will be jamming from 7 to 9:30 p.m. This is a free event. The Seventh Tap is at 2640 Linwood Ave. in Shreveport.

Saturday, June 3

  • The Robbys at the Robinson Film Center - RFC's annual fundraiser event will be a night at the movies you'll never forget. A red carpet entrance, an awards ceremony, '80s karaoke, a silent auction and more. Come dressed up in formal wear, your '80s best costume or something in between to celebrate 15 years of RFC. Tickets start at $65 and can be purchased on RFC's website. The night will begin at 7 p.m. at 617 Texas St. in downtown Shreveport.

  • Second Rodeo Anniversary Party at The Seventh Tap - Come out and celebrate The Seventh Tap's second anniversary with music from Bond+ and Holy Witch, food from St. Laurent, Dripp Hot Chicken and Donuts, Rough House Burger and Cajun Asian. Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased on The Seventh Tap's website. The party starts a Noon at 2640 Linwood Ave. in Shreveport.

  • Shreveport Farmers' Market - The farmers' market is making its return to Festival Plaza on Saturday. Come out from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to get some fresh produce, handmade jewelry, home items and more. Festival Plaza is located at 101 Crockett St. in downtown Shreveport.

  • Comedy Night at The Missing Link - Come out and get ready to laugh with comedians Jared Jordan, Tagan Dodson, Jason McAdam and other special guests all hosted by Glenn Stuart. There is a $10 cover, and the show begins at 9 p.m. at 504 Texas St. Ste. 100 in downtown Shreveport.

  • Le Tour des Jardins - The Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners are hosting their annual spring garden tour. Walk through six beautiful, private gardens throughout Shreveport and Bossier from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 on the day of at any participating garden.
