The American Red Cross of Central Florida and Orange County Fire Rescue teamed up to help people understand the cause of home fires at an outreach event Saturday.
Volunteers and other community partners installed free smoke alarms in homes in the Lakeshore Landings neighborhood.
Residents also learned about what they should do if a house fire starts and how to make an escape plan.
These events help educate people who live in communities that are vulnerable to home fires.
Red Cross launched the “Sound the Alarm” Home Fire Campaign in 2014 to work with local fire departments and members of the community.
Red Cross said the campaign has saved over 1,300 lives.
