But while Beyoncé went with Blue, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck chose Violet, and even Joni Mitchell nicknamed her daughter “Little Green,” what if your favorite color is crimson? Too bright and aggressive to inspire a sweet baby name? Never! At least, that’s what we say.

If you find yourself pregnancy-dreaming in shades of burgundy, rose, brick or wine, maybe it’s a sign, eh? According to Color Matters, red is actually one of the top two favorite colors of most people (along with blue). In mythology and history, red is seen as the color of passion and even or magic.

According to Color Matters, “Our prehistoric ancestors saw red as the color of fire and blood — energy and primal life forces — and most of red’s symbolism today arises from its powerful associations in the past.” That’s a pretty epic backstory — and yet, we see very few kids named after this brilliant hue these days.
