This year’s Global Citizen festival will return to New York City’s Great Lawn on Sept. 24 with a diverse mix of hitmakers from the worlds of rock, hip-hop and pop.

The lineup of performers for the humanitarian-focused music event was announced Tuesday with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lauryn Hill set to headline the bill. The former Fugees frontwoman, currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” opus, was a featured headliner at the 2023 Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans last month.

Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion, pop crooner Conan Gray and K-Pop band Stray Kids are also scheduled to perform at the star-studded Central Park concert, with more talent to be announced.

With a goal of ending global poverty, the annual Global Citizen concert has raised awareness around famine, climate change and other inequities worldwide since 2012 through events also held in India, Germany and South Africa.

Organizers for this year’s event said in a statement that Global Citizen “will unite millions of voices, amplified by the world’s biggest artists, to demand urgent action from world leaders gathering in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly in September.”

Previous headliners have included Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Metallica, the Foo Fighters, John Legend, Rihanna and Carrie Underwood.

Tickets to the concerts are free, and can be earned by downloading the Global Citizen app or visiting GlobalCitizen.org and taking action on a series of the campaign’s issues.
