When Brittany Mahomes flexes her social media muscle, people listen.

Over the last few weeks, for instance, she’s been encouraging her 332,000 followers on X (formerly known as Twitter) to support teachers by retweeting school supply wish lists of grateful teachers across the country.

Now she’s got Red Lobster’s attention.

Over the weekend the KC Current co-owner and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted one sentence about the restaurant’s coconut shrimp.

She is, apparently, a fan, as the three crying emojis can attest.

“Red lobster really got rid of their coconut shrimp in case anyone was wondering …” she posted right before 5 p.m. on Sunday (not long after the Chiefs’ preseason loss).

Patrick was the first to respond. with three laughing-crying emojis.

It’s unclear where Mahomes got her shrimp intel, because according to Red Lobster officials, they still serve coconut shrimp.

And they would like to make sure the Mahomeses get some.

“Our Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp continues to be a wildly popular item with our guests,” Jeffrey Matray, senior director of marketing communications for Red Lobster, told The Star in a statement. “We’re so happy to hear Brittany is a fan and we’re sorry that she was unable to get them this time. We’d love to make it up to her and Patrick and invite them to reach out so we can be sure they get their fill!”

But before that clarification came, Mahomes’ followers paid their respects to the shellfish encrusted with sweet coconut flakes, fried until golden brown and served with Red Lobster’s signature piña colada sauce.

“I found that out last weekend when we ate there in Overland Park. So bummed.”

“No way!!! My kid even works there and didn’t tell me!”

“That’s almost as heartbreaking as when @LongHornSteaks eliminated their Santa Fe stuffed shrimp. It was SO good.”

“Just NEVER get rid of the cheddar biscuits ever!!”

“The end times.”

Others offered advice.

“We just had coconut shrimp at the Red Lobster on Barry Road yesterday. Might try there!!”

“When you guys visit NY go to Masuta in Brooklyn. My gf worked there & she says their coconut shrimp is best in the world.”

“Come to Trader Joe’s. We sell a better version of those. :)

Then Red Lobster responded, too, telling Mahomes: We still have have coconut shrimp!

“Brittany, we think you’re shrimply the best and we’re sorry you didn’t get your coconut shrimp! It’s still on the menu so don’t worry. Shoot us a DM to coordinate getting your fill!”

Shrimp is huge at Red Lobster. In June, the restaurant chain announced that its popular Ultimate Endless Shrimp offering is now a permanent menu item.

The Cheddar Bay Biscuits are included. So is the coconut shrimp.

“Ultimate Endless Shrimp has been an iconic promotion and a guest-favorite tradition at Red Lobster for more than 18 years,” Patty Trevino, Red Lobster’s chief marketing officer, said at the time.

“Knowing how much our guests love and look forward to the return of Ultimate Endless Shrimp each year, we decided it’s time to make this guest favorite available all day, every day. And this is just the beginning – we’ll be ‘dropping’ more Ultimate Endless Shrimp excitement later this year.”

Coconut shrimp bites are also offered as part of the “Shrimp Your Way” menu item.
