Red meat donations needed for Cat Haven in Dunlap

DUNLAP, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Red meat donations are needed for wild cats at the Project Survival Cat Haven, which is a park dedicated to the preservation of wild cats.

Officials with Project Survival’s Cat Haven say they offer their wild cats a mixture of chicken, whole prey, and red meat, and their red meat primarily comes from donations from local farms and ranches, but they say they have hit a dry spell on donations the last couple of months and have been feeding out a lot of chicken.

Officials say that, although a local introduced them to Restaurant Depot, in Fresno, and they were able to obtain beef shoulder for the cats, this meat is much more expensive than their regular ranch donations, and they say this is the slowest time of the year for revenue, so they are asking the public for help.

For those who would like to help offset the cost of their red meat purchases, officials are encouraging them to donate. They say even a $5 donation would be really helpful since they add up quickly. Those interested could also donate through their website by clicking here.
