Texas Tech announced the signings Wednesday of Abby Dickinson, Kate Hansen and Courtney O’Brien to letters of intent.

Dickinson is a 5-8 defensive specialist/libero from Orlando (Fla.) Olympia who led her team to a 21-win season and a district championship. She had 1,235 digs in her high-school career.

"Abby is a fearless defender with great touch and instincts," Tech coach Tony Graystone said. "I fully expect her to make an impact right away and improve our first touch."

Hansen is a 6-3 middle blocker and right side from Weatherford, where she was a three-time all-state honoree by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. She had more than 1,000 career kills.

"Kate is one of the highest-rated prospects we've signed at Tech and we're very excited about her future as a Red Raider," Graystone said. "Kate has great size and length, is a next-level blocker and is a terminal attacker."

O'Brien is a 5-11 defensive specialist/libero from Katy Cinco Ranch, where she's helped her team reach the regional quarterfinals four times. As a senior, O'Brien has hit .323 with 495 kills and 416 digs. Her career numbers include 1,206 kills and 1,044 digs.

"Courtney has played at a very high level for a long time and worked with some great coaches," Graystone said. "She's a fighter, super competitive, and I know she's going to be a great fit and someone we can build around."

O'Brien is a sister of Tech outside hitter Maddie O'Brien.
