LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The Red Rose Transit Authority, which serves Lancaster County, has joined a growing list of public transit agencies in Pennsylvania offering a day of free bus rides next week.

“Rider Appreciation Day” is a statewide initiative organized by the Pennsylvania Public Transit Association and transit agencies across the state.

“Our passengers mean the world to us and are why we do what we do!” Greg Downing, executive director of the South Central Transit Authority — which oversees Red Rose Transit — said. “Getting the opportunity to show our appreciation for their support and patronage on this day and in this way is a small effort to say thank you for riding RRTA and using public transit!”

According to Red Rose Transit, the agency offers 17 bus routes throughout Lancaster County and averages over 1 million trips annually.

The promotion is happening on Wednesday, May 8.
