Tenessa Audette leads the way in fundraising in the crowded Redding City Council race.

Audette, a district representative for state Sen. Brian Dahle, has received $37,670 in contributions since the beginning of the year, according to electronic financial disclosure statements.

That's a smidgen ahead of Joshua Johnson, a real estate developer who has brought in $37,079.

Both Audette and Johnson have brought in money from a range of donors, with the Redding Firefighters Association political action committee the top contributor to both campaigns, giving $5,200 tp Johnson and $4,900 to Audette.

The firefighters' group also has given $4,900 to Alex Shea, whose campaign has received $23,347.

Audette, Johnson and Shea are among 10 people running for three council seats.

Vice Mayor Michael Dacquisto is running for a second term, while Mayor Kristen Schreder is not running for reelection and councilor Erin Resner is running for the District 1 Shasta County Board of Supervisors seat.

Others running are James Crockett, Ian Hill, Jack Munns — who also ran in 2018 — Marcus Partin, Jordan Valenzuela and Kymberly Vollmers.

Meanwhile, the Redding Rancheria has given $4,500 each to Dacquisto and Partin.

Dacquisto was the only council member who in 2020 voted against a controversial land sale near the Rancheria Win-River Casino's planned expansion along Interstate 5. A judge earlier this year ruled the land deal violated the law and the city decided to return the money to the buyer and take back the land.

Current council members also are making a financial play in the race.

Julie Winter has given a combined $2,150 to the campaigns of Audette, Johnson and Shea.

Schreder has contributed a combined $1,500 to the Audette, Johnson and Shea campaigns.
