A Redding man is in custody on suspicion he repeatedly abused his two children ― a minor and a teenage girl ― for years, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Timothy Taylor, 56, after they received a report on Monday Taylor had allegedly been abusing his children for five years at their northwest Redding home, according to an announcement issued by the sheriff's office.

Detectives "learned Taylor had been sexually abusing one" of his children "since she was 14 years old. One of the incidents of abuse was particularly egregious and was determined to be an act of torture," the announcement said.

Taylor was arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop on Pine Grove Avenue near Shasta Lake, the sheriff's office reported.
