Here are the top five stories today in Raleigh:

  1. One was killed and three others injured in a Monday night shooting at the Wake Inn on New Bern Avenue. Officers responded to the incident before 9:15 pm, and found two victims shot in their rooms, and two shot in the parking lot. Police have not confirmed if the incidents are connected, and no motive is known at this time. (WRAL)

  2. Arguments in the North Carolina redistricting case are set to being today, and the three justices who have received calls for recusal will not be stepping aside. Associate Justices Anita Earls, Sam Ervin IV, and Phil Berger Jr. denied the motions on Monday, meaning all seven justices will likely listen to the oral arguments and decide on the case. (WCNC)

  3. The City of Raleigh has begun planning a new urban park at the former site of the Devereux Meadow baseball stadium. The 14 acre park will be a $2.5 million investment and the city is looking for input from residents to come up with design ideas. Beginning on February 7, draft concept plans will be available to view online. (CBS17)

  4. Wake County ABC stores have made the decision to continue their modified hours until further notice. The change was made in December to accommodate staffing shortages, and as staffing continues to be an issue, Wake County ABC stated that the decision to continue reduced hours was "not taken lightly." (CBS17)

  5. Applications opened Monday for the North Carolina Homeowner Assistance Fund. It's been nearly a year since Congress approved the funds, and now homeowners can seek help making mortgage payments, catching up on past-due bills, or other housing-related costs. In Wake County approximately 17% of households are struggling to meet their mortgage payments and can now apply online. (WRAL)
