A 33-year-old Redlands man was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking in the predawn hours of Sunday in Apple Valley.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials identified Adrian Vasquez as the man killed near Otoe and Wyandot roads.

Apple Valley Sheriff’s officials reported that at 4:53 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at the T-intersection.

American Medical Response and the Apple Valley Fire Protection District also responded to the incident just west of Lenny Brewster Park.

Deputies who responded to the scene determined a man driving a Dodge Journey was traveling east on Otoe Road while Vasquez was in the eastbound lane of the same road.

The driver of the Dodge did not see Vasquez and hit him east of Wyandot Road, sheriff’s officials said.

Vasquez suffered major injuries and died at the scene, according to authorities.

The driver of the Dodge was uninjured and remained on the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

The intersection was closed for approximately four hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence.
