Redner's Markets providing over 200,000 meals to food banks

Dec. 21—Redner's Markets announced Tuesday that it is providing over 200,000 meals to area food banks in markets served by the retailer thanks to corporate brands Minute Rice and The Original Louisiana Hot Sauce Co.

"We are always looking to partner with our manufacturing partners and give back to our local community in a way that impacts the most people," Ryan Redner, president and CEO, said in a press release. "At this time of year, this donation is able to stretch from the holiday and into the months after to help put food on the table of those that need it the most. Being able to share this with food banks throughout our entire footprint (Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware) is especially rewarding."

The press release noted that Redner's Markets engages in annual efforts to fight hunger among the populations served by its markets.

"On behalf of our brands Louisiana Hot Sauce and Minute Rice, BAM Brands are honored to support the financial contributions and volunteer efforts of Redner's and their team as they work to eradicate hunger in the communities they serve," said parent company BAM Brands.

Redner's is working closely with Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank, Maryland Food Bank, Philabundance, Weinberg Food Bank and The Open Link throughout the initiative, the press release said.

Together, those food banks are expected to prepare about 216,000 meals in collaboration with Redner's.
