Reds outfield prospect Hector Rodriguez singles on first pitch for Low-A Daytona Tortugas
Hector Rodriguez, one of two teenage prospects the Cincinnati Reds acquired in a trade last month with the New York Mets, singled to center field Wednesday on the first pitch he saw for the Daytona Tortugas, the Reds' Low-A affiliate.
Rodriguez, who was promoted to Daytona earlier this week, batted second and played center field. He added a walk in the Tortugas' 8-0 win against the Clearwater Threshers.
Rodriguez, 18, was acquired along with right-handed pitcher José Acuña by the Reds in a trade of outfielder Tyler Naquin and minor-league pitcher Phillip Diehl to the Mets.

Not a bad start for 18-year-old OF Hector Rodríguez in Tortuga green.

Acuña retired all 12 batters he faced in a relief appearance for the Tortugas earlier this month. He's posted a 1.29 ERA and 0.71 WHIP with 15 strikeouts in 14 innings so far for Daytona.
