The offense belongs to Dwayne Haskins full-time now.

Washington Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan announced Monday their rookie will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the 2019 season.

Haskins, the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, will make his second career start on Sunday against the New York Jets (2-7) in Washington. He had his first in Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills, completing 15 of 22 passes for 144 yards as Case Keenum was in concussion protocol. He was also sacked four times for a loss of 28 yards.

He also saw time in relief of Keenum against the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings. Keenum will be the No. 2 and Colt McCoy the No. 3, per Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic. Callahan told the media he knew last week who the starter would be, but wanted to have a conversation with the quarterbacks first.

“This will be a great opportunity for him going forward,” Callahan said.

At 1-8 with an offense that has produced 108 points this year — slightly more than half of the 203 points by the NFC East’s third-place Giants — the Redskins might as well go all-in and see how their top pick will develop. Giving him a confidence boost going into a contest with the Jets, a squad similarly struggling, might help him along.
