Reel Talk: Amanda goes fishing for yellowtail snapper with George Poveromo
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — As part of 8 On Your Side’s Amanda Holly’s Reel Talk series, she was invited to go fishing with well known fishing personality George Poveromo. In her first Reel Talk detailing this trip, she sat down with George to talk about where his love for fishing began and how he went about finding Amanda.
Amanda and George fished the Florida Keys reef and had an action-packed day.
They anchored up on the edge of the reef and put a chum block in the water. After a few minutes, the classic yellow shadow showed up behind the boat—hundreds of yellowtail snappers. It didn’t take long for them to start eating.
Yellowtail can sometimes be picky about what they’re hungry for and they were mainly going after the dead cut bait.
Amanda and George tossed the bait back into the chum and let it float freely back with the current. The yellowtails grabbed up the baits quick and in a hurry and it didn’t take long for them to fill the cooler!
