Officials for the 44th News Journal All-Star Classic

Meet the officials who will be working the News Journal Classic on Friday:

Jalen Reese

Three years of officiating experience. Played high school basketball at Mansfield Senior where he led the Tygers to an Elite Eight appearance in 2014. Led the Tygers to an undefeated football season in 2013 and was a second team All-Ohio quarterback. Still holds program records for every career and season stat for a quarterback. Went on to play college football at the University of Toledo before transferring to Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he threw for 492 yards and seven touchdowns. Played in the 2014 All-Star Classic where he scored 18 points.

JT Reese

Four years of officiating experience. Played high school basketball at St. Peter’s and graduated in 1994. Played in the 1994 News Journal All-Star Classic scoring 11 points. Attended Owens College for two years before playing college basketball at IUPUI. Also coached in the 2013 News Journal All-Star Classic and played in the alumni game the same year. Is the only person to play in the high school game, play in the alumni game, coach the game and officiate the game.

Ernie Perkins

Five years of basketball officiating experience. A 1984 graduate of Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Indiana where he played basketball and baseball. This is his first News Journal All-Star Classic as an official but has attended many classics throughout his time living in the Mansfield area. Has a son, Will, who plays soccer and basketball at Lexington.
