Refugio, Three Rivers players earn 1st team slots on Blue Bell/TSWA 2A All-State Team
Four players from Refugio and one from Three Rivers earned first team nods on the 2022 Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State Football team.
Bobcat offensive tackle J.R. Moore earned a first team spot, along with defensive lineman Braylon Gonzales, linebacker Kaleb Brown and Isaiah Avery. Three Rivers wide receiver Derek Lancaster was also named to the first team.
Timpson quarterback Terry Bussey was named the offensive player of the year and Shiner defensive back Dalton Brooks and Albany defensive back Wyatt Wyndam shared defensive player of the year honors.
Albany’s Denney Faith was the coach of the year. The longest-tenured coach in the state who came to Albany in 1987 has 344 victories.
